At the General Debate of the 78th session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA), Ghanaian President Nana Akufo-Addo urged the West to pay reparations for slave trade, stressing that it is time to acknowledge openly that much of the U.S. and Europe have been built from the vast wealth harvested from transatlantic slave trade and the centuries of colonial exploitation.
