Athens-Clarke library to host lectures on Hot Corner area of downtown Athens

The two men who produced the audio documentary “Hot Corner” are the guests for a free event Sunday at the Athens-Clarke County Library.

Alexander Stephens and Broderick Flanigan will speak on the documentary project at 3 p.m. in the Heritage Room. The event is also hosted by the Athens Historical Society.

The documentary podcast gives insight to Hot Corner, an historic African American business district in downtown Athens.

The six-part audio tells the story on the development of the location and the businesses that thrived in that section of downtown. Guests are encouraged to listen to the audio on Spotify or Apple Podcasts prior to attending.
