11 local orgs supporting developments in biotech and life sciences

While technology has transformed every industry and type of business in recent decades, it’s possible that healthcare has been the sector impacted the most.

From developing new medical devices, pharmaceuticals and treatments, to building apps and software to improve patient and provider experiences, nearly every aspect of modern health has been enhanced due to tech.

Many of these advancements were only able to be achieved through collaboration, with orgs like universities, law firms, accelerator programs, economic development groups and corporate entities supporting startups and institutions creating innovative solutions. Together, they make biotech and life sciences an integral pillar of the overall tech ecosystem, and contribute to improving the health of everyone in their communities.

For the month of October, Technical.ly’s reporting has explored the theme of Biotech Month for our editorial calendar. For some additional perspectives, we asked our Technical.ly Talent and Ecosystem Builder companies the following question:

Here are some replies from their teams, and if you like what you see, follow the links to companies’ Directory Pages to learn more and explore ways to connect.

Delaware Prosperity Partnership (choosedelaware.com) leads Delaware’s efforts to attract, grow and retain businesses; build a stronger entrepreneurial and innovation ecosystem; and support employers in place-marketing Delaware to potential employees.

“Delaware Prosperity Partnership has made extensive efforts to support biotechnology and life sciences in Delaware, both by attracting, growing and retaining companies in those industries and by enhancing the statewide innovation ecosystem with opportunities and connections. Many of these efforts have been made in partnership with likeminded entities such as the Delaware BioScience Association, The Innovation Space, the University of Delaware and Delaware State University. For example, in 2021, DPP worked closely with Delaware Bio to produce the comprehensive report ‘Life Sciences in Delaware: Momentum & Opportunity’ to show how life sciences companies thrive in Delaware and to identify where more can be done within the sector. In addition, since 2021, DPP has worked with organizations throughout the state to lead and organize the Startup302 funding competition for tech-enabled early-stage companies in life sciences and other categories whose founders are from underfunded demographics. These larger initiatives are in addition to the daily work DPP does to advise and facilitate relationships for biotech and life sciences companies as they seek to take advantage of all that Delaware offers them.” — Erica Crell, innovation manager
